Forms, forms, forms

Paperwork first, of course - get it done today!

There are a few forms that every prospective employee needs to fill out in order to be considered for a job -- and paid. Which forms you should fill out for us depend on whether you worked with Varsity last year.

Did you work for Varsity last summer? Your crew leader will give you your paperwork or it will be mailed to you. As a returning worker, get your employment paperwork turned in as soon as you receive it. Don't let this slide. If you don't have your paperwork yet, contact your crew leader or location coordinator to let him or her know of your interest in working.

Potential new worker? Here's the process to follow:

1. Varsity work application/employment agreement. Download the Varsity Application/Employment Agreement (includes welcome letter). Return this as soon as possible to Varsity.

2. Once your Varsity application has been accepted, Varsity will send you a set of forms that the federal government requires of all employees. Here's how to get ready for one of the forms you fill out, the I-9:

Federal I-9 form for U.S. citizens: This form shows your legal status to be employed in the U.S. You will fill out the top part of the form and then also add photocopies of your identifying documents when you return the form to Varsity. There are several ways (using different identifying documents) to show that you are able to work. If you have a U.S. passport, that's the only document you'll need. Make a photocopy of the page in the passport that has your picture and other identifying information. Another typical way to show that you may legally work is to provide a form of picture ID (driver's license, school ID) *AND* a Social Security card or birth certificate. Photocopy the front and back of photo ID you provide and the front and back of your Social Security card, if you are using that as a form of ID. If you provide a birth certificate instead of a Social Security card, just make a photocopy of the front of the birth certificate.

Federal I-9 form for non-U.S. Citizens: This form shows your legal status to be employed in the U.S. Complete the top of the form as indicated. For the identification document(s) you select, make photocopies that you will return to Varsity.
